Weekly Weigh-In: Week 10

Week 10: 344

Weight Lost This Week: 3 pounds

Total Weight Lost: 46 pounds

As disappointed as I was last week, this week, I’m really not. I was on track to lose probably closer to 5 pounds, but I had a planned cheat day on Wednesday (Endless Fondue at The Melting Pot – like anyone can resist that one!!), and that slowed me down a bit. I’d actually been doing extra exercise all week to compensate, and even did double my normal swim Wednesday morning, but that proved to be overkill and I’ve been pretty useless ever since.

I did have my official 3rd visit to the doctor Wednesday afternoon, and I weighed 343 pounds there, but then went on to eat a literal ton of food that evening, so not surprised that I went up slightly. But I am back to eating like I should be, so all is good for next week.

WEEKLY WEIGH-IN: WEEK 9

Week 9: 347

Weight Lost This Week: 2 pounds

Total Weight Lost: 43 pounds

Not as much as I’d hoped – was really looking to stay at 3-4 pounds loss a week for a bit longer, but guess it’s better than nothing. It’s just frustrating to know that I’m eating at a huge deficit, along with exercising 3-4 times a week (and not eating back those calories either) and not having a whole lot to show for it. Makes it very hard to stay motivated.

(realistically, i know 2 pounds is good, but when you have a long, long way to go – it really sucks)

Thinky Thoughts: Food and Chronic Pain

Constant refrains of “if you’d just eat healthy, you’d feel better” are annoying at best, and frankly bullshit at worst – for most people, but I have to say that for me, cutting out most of the carbs has made a huge difference in how I feel. Before I started the diet, I was eating Advil LiquiGels like candy (well… not quite, but still more than I should have been). These days, I rarely have to take anything, unless my achilles tendinitis is flaring up.

In case I needed more proof, there’s this week. The other day, I ate ALL THE FOOD. Didn’t care about counting calories/carbs, etc… not only did I finish off the donuts (mmmmm…. donuts), but hubby and I also ate Taco Bell – which I know, there are plenty of better places to eat when taking a vacation from your diet, but sometimes you just want a box of tacos and a bean burrito. Honestly though, I don’t think we will make that mistake again. When I woke up the next morning, I felt like shit. No energy, swollen, and aching all over – like I haven’t felt since I cut out the carbs. Ewww!! Totally did not miss feeling like that, and will do my best to not feel that way again any time soon.

Of course even if the benefits were blatantly obvious, eating healthier is a luxury that not everyone can afford, particularly those who are disabled or lower income. Not only a money thing though, but even the time/effort it takes to prep can be daunting. If you have limited spoons, just trying to cook something (even if it’s way better for you) is just too much, and if you are rushed between taking care of the kids and getting to a second job or other errands, eating on the go might be the only option (rather than not eating at all). Just wish that more places would work on giving people healthier low cost “fast food” options. We’d all feel better for it.

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 7

Week 7: 350

Weight Lost This Week: 6 pounds

Total Weight Lost: 40 pounds

I started swimming again this week. Didn’t go Monday, but have been every day since for at least 30-45 minutes. Currently doing about 20 laps in about 30 minutes (pool is 25 yards each lap). I know that is slow, but I figure it’s better than nothing. Probably won’t go on the weekends (too crowded), but hopefully will get there at least 3-4 times per week. Not really bothering with other exercises while I’m there – they don’t burn near as many calories, so kind of a waste of time.

I also discovered that the Halo Top Chocolate Mocha Chip is way better than the Mint Chip flavor. WAY. BETTER. I mean… the mint one wasn’t bad, but it tended to leave a funky aftertaste. The Choco Mocha – near to perfect.

🙂

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 6

Week 6: 356

Weight Lost This Week: 5 pounds

Total Weight Lost: 34 pounds

Had my official 2nd visit with my doctor this week as well (also 356 officially in the chart now). He was very happy with my progress. YAY! This, of course, led to my first official cheat day… in which I ate nachos from Moe’s and had a Triple Chocolate Brownie sundae from DQ. Moe’s wasn’t my first choice, was totally going to nom on copious amounts of breadsticks and pasta from Olive Garden, but the weather was not cooperating with me, so Moe’s it was. But either way, it was OOOOHHHH SOOOO GOOD!!! But now I am fortified and ready for the next month of dieting – though to be fair, my wedding anniversary is in about a week, so I’ll probably be going out to dinner on that day too, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. XD

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 5

Week 5: 361

Weight Lost This Week: 5 pounds

Total Weight Lost: 29 pounds

YAY!! Forward progress again. I was really starting to worry, but guess my body was just adjusting. If I can maintain 3-5 pounds a week, I’ll be happy. Definitely makes it easier to stay the course when I’m seeing results. Though this week, I’ve been having trouble eating again. At least twice I didn’t even make 1000 calories, or barely made it. Of course last night I was way under, but I fell asleep really early (the kiddo had me up at the crack of dawn) and just never got around to eating my evening food. I will try to do better this coming week.

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 4

Week 4: 366

Weight Lost This Week: 0 (gained 2)

Total Weight Lost: 24 pounds

Super frustrated. Still eating between 1000 and 1200 calories a day, 75 carbs or less and high protein, and not only didn’t I lose anything, but I gained. I swear… my body hates me. It’s really hard to stay motivated when there aren’t any results to show for it.

Only positive – I do think I’m losing inches. But not losing is bumming me out. I mean, I knew that the rate of loss would slow, but I was still expecting at least 2-3 pounds a week (maybe even 5) being on such a restricted diet. Hopefully, it will pick back up, but so far, the scale seems stuck at 366-367 (literally been up since later in the afternoon after the last weigh-in).
